Unloved and Handle with Care lead the doc field

Unloved: Huronia’s Forgotten Children and Handle with Care: The Legend of the Notic Streetball Crew lead the documentary field  for the Directors Guild of Canada’s DGC Award nominations. The nominations were released over the weekend and Unloved and Handle with Care receiving two nominations each. The films, directed by Barri Cohen and Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux, respectively, were nominated for the Allan King Award for Excellence in Documentary and in the category for Best Picture Editing. Also nominated for the Allan King Award were Adam Brooks (Cliff: A Portrait of an Artist), Chase Joynt (Framing Agnes), Andrew Moir (Don’t Come Searching), and Madison Thomas (Buffy Saint-Marie: Carry It On).

On the dramatic side, David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future and Danis Goulet’s Night Raiders led with three nominations apiece.
