Canadian Hertiage’s Bill C-10 sets forth amendments to the Broadcasting Act, following a recommendation by the Yale Report to tackle the dominance of tech giants in Canadian screen culture. The centrepiece is
"Private broadcasters should respect the conditions of their licence and public broadcasters should get back exactly what their name calls for — public broadcasting."
Canadian film funding received further consideration as it pertains to independent documentaries and the big public spenders like CBC and the NFB.
There appears to be a fundamental disconnect between the various public bodies empowered to fund documentaries in Canada.
