A frontrunner in the Oscar race for Best Documentary Feature and the first ever-film to be eligible in the race for Best Documentary, Best Animated Feature, and Best International Feature, Flee has captured the attention of audiences since its award-winning festival run. Directed by Jonas Poher Rasmussen, Flee tells the story of Amin Nawabi (a pseudonym) as he shares with the director his story of escaping Afghanistan, arriving in Denmark as a refugee, and then coming out to his family and feeling free for the first time in his life. Told in poetic animation, this unique hybrid film transports audiences through Amin’s gripping journey while respecting his anonymity in the process. Synopsis: FLEE tells the story of Amin Nawabi as he grapples with a painful secret he has kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life he has built for himself and his soon to be husband. Recounted mostly through animation to director Jonas Poher Rasmussen, he tells for the first time the story of his extraordinary journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan.
