Have a little film festival of your own this weekend! The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) offers five new short docs for film fans this weekend. New docs streaming at NFB.ca include the Canada’s Top Ten selection Interview with a Free Man directed by Nicolas Lévesque, which invites questions of justice, healing, and hopes for the future. (Handy if you can’t make it to a screening next week!) The film screens as part of the 5 Shorts Project (Project 5 courts) and launches the first season of a project that invites collaboration between the NFB and artist collectives around Quebec. The first season starts with the Quebec City-based film co-op Spira. The films were produced by Nathalie Cloutier and Colette Loumède for the NFB and Catherine Benoit for Spira.

The other films in the quintet of 4K-shot docs include Jeremy Peter Allen’s story of burn survivors At the Beach, John Blouin’s Montreal Festival du noueau cinéma selection Hey Lou!, Nadine Beaudet’s World of Passage; and Martin Bureau’s Hot Docs pick Hell Runs on Gasoline!. Season two of 5 Shorts Project partners up with La bande Sonimage. Here are the five films to tide you over until then. Binge away, doc fans!
