Trailer for Bruce Springsteen Doc ‘Letter to You’ Ahead of Oct. 23 Release
By Pat Mullen
The Boss is back! After delivering one of this writer’s favourite concert docs in years with 2019’s Western Stars, Bruce Springsteen is back in the saddle with Letter to You. The film reunites Springsteen with long-time collaborator Thom Zimny (with whom he directed Western Stars) as he records his new album Letter to You with the E Street Band. While making new music, Springsteen looks back on his legacy with E Street and the road ahead. After the mellow country tunes of Western Stars, Letter to You sees the Boss return to his rock roots.
Apple released the first trailer for Letter to You ahead of its October 23 release on Apple TV+. The bar is pretty high after last year’s ditty, but Letter to You should be a welcome reprieve for anybody looking to kick back with some good tunes and memories.
Synopsis: Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You captures Bruce Springsteen recording his new album “Letter To You” live with the full E Street Band, and includes final take performances of 10 originals from the new record. The feature-length vérité documentary features full performances from the E Street Band, in-studio footage, never-before-seen archival material, and a deeper look into “Letter To You” from Springsteen himself. Written by Springsteen and directed by his frequent collaborator Thom Zimny, the film is a tribute to the E Street Band, to rock music itself, and to the role it has played in Springsteen’s life.
