‘The Cave’ Wins TIFF People’s Choice Award for Documentary

The people have spoken! Feras Fayyad’s exceptionally powerful The Cave won the Grolsch People’s Choice Award for Documentary today at the Toronto International Film Festival. The doc about courageous women in Syria providing underground care for survivors of war was named the overall favourite doc as voted by the festival audience. The runners-up were Garin Hovannisian’s I Am Not Alone and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Dads. Winners were announced via social media this year instead of the usual ceremony.

The overall festival favourite was Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit, which won the Grolsch People’s Choice Award. Runners-up were Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story and Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite.
