Photos from the ‘Sharkwater Extinction’ Premiere

Festival street was swimming with sharks yesterday for the world premiere of Sharkwater Extinction! The final film from director Rob Stewart received a touching and energetic debut as a special event Friday afternoon at Roy Thompson Hall. The premiere inspired TIFF-goers to catch Stewart’s love for sharks as people walked the red carpet in fully-finned attire.

The emotional screening featured appearances by Stewart’s parents, Brian and Sandy, and his sister Alexandra. Chantal Kreviazuk brought some star power to the event and performed the film’s original song “Child of the Water” for the crowd.

In our review of the film, we called Sharkwater Extinction “a touching tribute that will inevitably inspire more young minds to carry on Stewart’s mission.” Check out some photos and footage from the event, and TIFF-goers’ reactions below.
