Turn the speakers up high and get ready to be dazzled by the next generation of Canadian musicians. John Bolton’s That Higher Level goes behind the scenes with the young talents in the National Youth Orchestra of Canada during a summer of rehearsals and performances. The film spotlights the passions of these young Canadians and the opportunity that the NYO affords their creative talents. The doc, which was released online today from the NFB, soars with its portrait of the dedication, commitment, and pure love for music that fuels these young artists.

Synopsis: That Higher Level follows the 100 musicians who make up the National Youth Orchestra of Canada over the course of two months of training and touring across the country. Embedded with the orchestra throughout, filmmaker John Bolton weaves together footage that captures the essence of the training institute and, eventually, the journey and performances on tour.
