Netflix and Grill? Alex Gibney Gets ‘Cooked’ in New Series

By Pat Mullen

Is ‘Netflix and Grill’ the new way to cuddle up with a friend? The new Netflix documentary series Cooked explores the relationships between people and foods. This four-part docu-series from Oscar winner Alex Gibney ( Taxi to the Dark Side), best-selling author Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma), and a team of all star sous-chefs tackles the finer elements of culinary culture. As mouth-watering images appear before our eyes, the series offers a buffet of talking heads who ask fundamental questions about the foods we eat: What are the roots of tradition and of the meals we prepare? Are all these new diets eroding culture? Tune in February 19 to find out!

Each of the series’ four episodes examines one of the physical elements used throughout the ages to transform raw ingredients into delicious dishes through cooking: fire, water, air, and earth.

The series premieres on February 16 at the Berlinale Film Festival in the Culinary Cinema Program, and launches globally on Netflix February 19, best enjoyed with a home-cooked meal.
