Here is an impressive pair of rankings! Indigenous stories hold the top two spots for the Audience Award at Hot Docs. Marie Clements’ NFB docu-musical The Road Forward takes the lead in the rankings with Catherine Bainbridge and Alfonso Maiorana’s music doc Rumble holding the runner-up spot. Both docs have additional screenings in the week to come and lead the additional prize for the Canadian Audience Award with A Better Man and Bee Nation on their heels. The Road Forward opens DOXA this Thursday.

The pair of Canadian docs overtook Fox Searchlight’s rousing Step, which tells of a group of Baltimore high school students taking the stage against the backdrop of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Stay tuned for updates and find POV coverage of the films below.
