Docs Screening in Canada this Week (May 20-26)

Judith Stein in The League of Exotique Dancers

By Pat Mullen

And we’re back to help fulfill all your documentary needs this week! Readers eager to catch some of the Hot Docs films from the pages of POV are in for a treat. The festival’s big, fun, and sexy opening night film (and subject of our current cover story) The League of Exotique Dancers opens this week in select cities. Director Rama Rau is set to do Q&As following select screenings at the Bloor Cinema, so it’s almost as if one gets the full festival experience all over again!

Other Hot Docs titles hitting Canadian screens this week include Daniel Cross’s I am the Blues, Sundance talking pointHoly Hell, and eco doc How to Let Go of the World (And Love All the Things that Climate Can’t Change). Additional Canadian titles playing from coast to coast include Maureen Judge’s My Millennial Life (check back soon for a review), Alan Zweig’s Canadian Screen Award winner Hurt, and Su Rynard’s The Messenger. Use the extra day of the long weekend to do some doc-ing!
