Docs Opening in Canada this Week (Aug. 4 - 10)

An Inconvenient Sequel

By Pat Mullen

Is it hot enough for you this summer? Climate change seems to be more undeniable than it was when Davis Guggenheim’s An Inconvenient Truth premiered over a decade ago. The Academy Award winning box office hit gets a follow-up feature as former Vice President Al Gore keeps fighting the good fight to deliver his compelling Power Point presentation on the effects of global warming. An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power follows the efforts made to tackle climate change and Gore’s attempts to persuade governmental leaders to invest in renewable energy, culminating in the signing of the Paris Climate Agreement in 2016. In the wake of Donald Trump pulling the plug on the Paris Agreement, however, this film makes Gore’s message more urgent and relevant than ever. When there’s so much proof that human activity has devastating consequences on the environment, why can’t the most powerful country on the planet wake up and lead the cause?
