DOC Institute Breakthrough Program Now Accepting Applications

Why Horror?

By Pat Mullen

The DOC Institute invites emerging filmmakers to apply for the Breakthrough Program in anticipation of this year’s Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival. This intensive program gives filmmakers in the doc community the opportunity to pitch and sell their projects at the upcoming festival, which runs April 28 – May 8. The program selects eight filmmakers and the participants receive one-on-one mentorship from industry peers. Participants also receive an All-Access Pass to Hot Docs, which offers opportunities for additional networking and professional development. Past Breakthrough participants include, but are not limited to, Rob Lindsay and Nicolas Kleiman (Canadian Screen Award nominee Why Horror?) and Elisa Paloschi (director of the award-winning doc Driving with Selvi).

Qualified Ontario-based professionals are invited to apply here by the deadline of February 10, 2016.
