“David & Me” documentary subject freed

Point of View believes in the power of documentary to impact the lives of its subjects and viewers, and today we’re thrilled to share one such life-changing example. The wrongful imprisonment of David McCallum was the focus of the 2014 documentary David & Me, which premiered at this year’s Hot Docs Festival. Championed by many, including the late Rubin “Hurricane” Carter and filmmakers Ray Klonsky and Marc Lamy, David’s case was reviewed last week and he now walks free after almost 30 years.

The filmmakers have set up a fundraising page dedicated to helping David get back on his feet.

POV board member Michael McNamara served as one of the producers of the film, and we would like to congratulate him and the rest of the Markham Street Films team for their role in bringing this story to light.
