Contest: Win Tickets to See ‘Mermaids’ at DOXA!
Dive into the documentary waters of Vancouver’s DOXA Documentary Film Festival this May. The west coast doc showcase is quickly becoming one of Canada’s top festivals with its tightly-curated programme of cool docs and fresh voices. One of the new Canadian docs making waves at this year’s festival is Ali Weinstein’s debut feature Mermaids, a refreshing look at a unique ‘mermaiding’ community of women who find comfort in their own fins by dressing up as the fabled sirens of the sea. Synopsis: A feature documentary about the powerful allure of a universal myth. Mermaids immerses audiences in a world where fantasies come to life. Following the stories of five extraordinary tail-donning women who are part of a growing “mermaiding” subculture.
