Contest! Win Tickets to See ‘Made in Vietnam’ at Reel Asian!

Toronto’s Reel Asian Film Festival returns November 9-18 this year with a strong line-up of dramas and documentaries. POV is proud to support Reel Asian by connecting readers and doc fans with great films at the festival. One of the docs that audiences will want to see is the Toronto premiere of the moving Canadian documentary Made in Vietnam by director Thi Vo. This intimate film follows the director to Vietnam on a personal journey as he searches for the father who stayed behind when the filmmaker immigrated to Canada as a child with his mother. Director Thi Vo will be in attendance to discuss this personal film with audiences.

Synopsis: Thi Vo searches for his biological father in Vietnam after over three decades of separation. Thi Vo was a refugee escaping Vietnam with his mother when he was only a baby. Fleeing to Hong Kong where they later immigrated to Canada at the age of four. 30 years later, he had the desire to not only find his family whom he had never met, but to ultimately find his father and uncover the mystery of his background. In this emotional heart felt feature documentary, we follow Thi Vo and his friends into the heart Vietnam as they search all over the country for clues and connect with all sorts of people who help them along their way.
