Contest: Win Tickets to See ‘Push’ at Open Roof Festival!
Rent in Toronto is expensive, so POV is eager to help out with some free tickets to the Open Roof Festival! We’re proud to support Open Roof Festival by co-presenting the screening of Push on July 24. This timely documentary directed by Fredrik Gertten follows Leilani Farha, the UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing as she investigates the high cost of living and makes her case that housing is a human right. The screening will be preceded by a performance by psych-pop band Father Christmas.
Synopsis: Housing prices are skyrocketing in cities around the world. Incomes are not. Push sheds light on a new kind of faceless landlord, our increasingly unlivable cities and an escalating crisis that has an effect on us all. This is not gentrification, it’s a different kind of monster. The film follows Leilani Farha, the UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, as she’s travelling the globe, trying to understand who’s being pushed out of the city and why. “I believe there’s a huge difference between housing as a commodity and gold as a commodity. Gold is not a human right, housing is,”says Leilani.
Thanks to our friends at Open Roof Festival, POV has tickets away to see Push on July 24! All you have to do to enter is answer the following question:
