Coming Soon: POV #105!
Coming soon: “Stories We Tell: Canadian Documentary”
As Canada prepares to celebrate a new milestone this year, we’re celebrating by saluting the national art form: documentary! Our upcoming release of “Stories We Tell: Canadian Documentary,” is a special issue of POV, sponsored by Reel Canada, the OMDC, and the NFB. This 88-page, perfect-bound issue is a commemorative keepsake that chronicles the history of Canadian film from the early days to present using all-new coverage.
Contents include an in-depth historical overview of documentary’s evolution in Canada, its growing influence on the nation’s filmmakers, and profiles of some of the most notable filmmakers from coast to coast to coast. POV also offers essential lists of ten must-see Canadian feature documentaries and ten essential short to mid-length documentaries, and a cross-Canada road trip that highlights the different movements, scenes, and docs within the nation’s diverse landscape.
Readers also get special essays that view the nation through documentary. POV invites some of its best writers to return and offer thematic pieces on topics such as the idea of the North, activist filmmaking, auteur cinema, docs about Canadian arts and culture, Canadian photography, Indigenous and Inuit cinema, and docs that highlight Canada’s diversity.
This issue enjoys an expanded run in addition to POV’s usual circulation. In partnership with Reel Canada, copies of this special issue will be distributed at over 600 locations at National Canadian Film Day on April 19, 2017.
Subscribe today for the low price of $30 to get a full-year subscription beginning with this special issue when it is released to subscribers in March.
Single copies will be distributed through retailers via Magazines Canada. (Some #MagazineMoment giveaways are coming soon too!)
Stay tuned for more updates as we celebrate Canada’s national art form!
