Join our friends at Cinema Politica for a special event with filmmaker, activist and educator John Greyson. His talk, entitled “How to Make Glue from Macaroni,” will touch on his recent documentary projects, his experience in Egypt (where he and Tarek Loubani were held in a Cairo prison for nearly two months), and his in-development theory and practice called “the documentary hippocratic oath.” John’s event will be followed by a book launch of CP’s first ever reader on documentary activism.

To mark the occasion of “screening truth to power” for ten long years, CP has produced and published a feisty and thoughtful 210-page book that explores the intersection of documentary and activism. With over twenty contributors from their three favourite spheres—art, activism and academia—the reader has something for everyone. Filled with essays, filmmaker reflections and impressions, favourite film lists and designed by the incredibly talented Kevin Lo, Screening Truth to Power: A Reader on Documentary Activism is a gem that belongs in your hands and on your shelves. Special book-launch price will be offered on all readers sold at the event.
