2018 Canadian Screen Awards Documentary Nominees

By Pat Mullen

The nominations for the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards are out! This year’s nominations, announced this morning by actors Karine Vanasse, Sarain Fox and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, honored the best in film, television, and digital media. Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World and A Moon of Nickle and Ice led the feature documentary field with three nominations each. On the TV front, the Academy spread the wealth among a wide range of nominees.

The nominations also acknowledged two recently departed figures: one was the previously announced dedication of the award for best nature or science program/series to the memory of Sharkwater director Rob Stewart. The other came in a posthumous nomination for The Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie, who received a nomination for his music on The Secret Path. Hip doc Long Time Running received a nomination for its film editing.
